Full Itinerary
Day 01: Paro Arrival
On Paro arrival, our representative will warmly greet and escort you to the hotel for check-in and relax. If your arrival is in the morning, you can visit the Rinpung Dzong – the fortress of the heap of jewels. This construction has a long and fascinating history with fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore along with the wooden galleries together with a traditional wooden bridge. Overnight in Paro.
Day 02: Paro – Chele La Pass
Today, head to Chele La Pass at the height of 3990 meters which is dotted with colorful Buddhist prayer flags and incredible vistas into the valley. From the pass, walk along the ridges to see stunning views of Mount Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, and Mount Kanchenjunga in Sikkim, the world’s third-highest mountain. Hike up to the highest ridge, Kungkarpo at the height of 4200 meters to take a well-deserved rest and enjoy spectacular views of the majestic Himalayas. Later, return to your vehicle and drive to Paro. Overnight in Paro
Day 03: Paro – Thimphu
After breakfast, transfer to Thimphu for a sightseeing tour including the Folk Heritage Museum as well as the School of Arts and Crafts. In the afternoon, reach Kuensel Phodrang near Thimphu valley where giant Buddha statue is located. The 169-feet statue is well-known worldwide to be the largest bronze Buddha statue.
In the late afternoon, visit the Tashichhodzong, the marvelous medieval fortress-monastery, which is preserving most of the Government’s office and Kings’ Throne Room. In the evening, you can stroll in the city center and absorb the lifestyle of the locals. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.
Day 04: Thimphu – Punakha
Today, travel to Wangdue via Dochula pass at the height of nearly 3100m where you can get spectacular views of Bhutanese magnificent nature. Then drive to Wangdue to mingle with the locals before traveling to Punakha. Overnight at a hotel in Punakha.
On October 7th, you can attend the full-day festival dances and celebrations called Wangdue festival which is celebrated to honor the teachings of Guru Rinpoche who came to Bhutan in 746 AD and introduced Buddhism to Bhutan. The Bhutanese of all ages put on their best attires and come to marvel at the festival.
Day 05: Hiking Journey to Punakha
After breakfast, cross a suspension bridge, the longest in Bhutan across the Mo Chu River. Spending some time strolling and visiting a local village of farmhouses and meeting local families. Your host will be happy to offer you a warm cup of butter tea. After lunch, hike further to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a delightful 3-story chorten with a view to the upper Punakha Valley and the impressive snow-capped mountains. Linger here for relaxing and simply appreciating the harmonious beauty of the location before returning to the hotel in Punakha.
Day 06: Punakha – Paro
Today, visit the Punakha Dzong situated between the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Later, drive to Paro via Dochula Pass again with a stop at Lobesa to explore rice paddies up to the Chimi Lhakhang Temple. It is dedicated to the great Yogi in the 14th century – Drukpa Kuenley, or the “Divine Madman,” who is believed to bless women who seek fertility. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.
Day 07: Taktsang Goemba Exploration
Today, hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery at the height of about 900m above Paro Valley. After lunch, you transfer back to Paro which is an awesome conclusion to your stay in Bhutan! Afterward, visit a farmhouse to enjoy a traditional hot stone bath. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.
Day 08: Paro Departure
It is time to say goodbye Bhutan. Enjoy your last time at this kingdom with breakfast at the hotel and morning at leisure until getting transferred to the Paro International Airport for a flight coming home. Trip ends.
